TRANSPORTATION

GETTING TO BALCHIK

Balchik is a charming seaside town on Bulgaria's northeastern Black Sea coast.

The wedding venue is Black Sea Rama Golf & Villas Resort (https://www.blacksearama.com/)

Situated on a 300 meters cliff at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, with breath-taking views of the Black sea, Black Sea Rama is located some 55 km north of Varna International Airport and 7 km from the ancient city of Balchik.

If you travel from abroad you have few options to get to Varna airport which is the nearest airport to the venue.

Get a flight to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria and then get a domestic flight from Sofia to Varna.
Get a direct flight to Varna (if available from your country)
Get a flight to any European airport that has connecting flights to Varna.

Once you arrive in Varna you could:

Rent a car and drive to the place you have chosen for your accommodation (please see options in the section below)
Let us know if you prefer to organize an airport transfer for you
Get a bus to Balchik and taxi to the hotel you have chosen
We do not recommend to get a taxi from Varna to Balchik as we cannot guarantee the price or the service the local taxi companies offer.
Unfortunately Uber is not available in Bulgaria 🥺

HIRE A CAR

We highly recommend that you hire a car so you can explore all that Balchik and the noartheaster Black Sea coast has to offer.

AIRPORT TRANSFER

If you just need transportation to and from Varna airport, our wedding agency could arrange a shuttle for you based on the number of people and the flight arrival/departure time. Let us know.

TAXIS AND RIDESHARE

Taxi could be a good option for short distance travel. Unfortunately Uber is not available in Bulgaria. Rideshare is not recommended.

TIPS

Book soon. We recommend booking as soon as you know that you're coming. The area around the wedding venue does not offer a big variety of hotels, so here are some options that we suggest:

The wedding venue! If you feel that you'd like to treat yourself with a luxurious stay you may choose among the wonderful villas or apartments offered by the resort. You will be right where the party will take place. If interested, please let us know. The venue offers special prices for our guests.

Another very nice option is to stay at Light House Golf & Spa Resort just 6 km from Black Sea Rama.

If you prefer to save money on accommodation and enjoy sightseeing in beautiful city of Balchik, we suggest the following charming hotels. They are 30 min drive from the wedding venue and if you choose to stay in any of them or nearby, we will provide you with a complimentary ride to and from Black Sea Rama:

WHAT TO DO

Balchik is known for its white cliffs, historic sites like the Balchik Palace and its botanical garden, and a relaxed atmosphere. It's a popular destination for sea tourism, with beaches, a promenade, and nearby attractions such as Cape Kaliakra and golf courses. The town has a rich history, founded by Thracians and later becoming a Greek-Byzantine and Bulgarian fortress before being developed as a summer resort for Queen Marie of Romania.

KEY ATTRACTIONS

Balchik Palace and Botanical Garden: The former summer residence of Queen Marie of Romania, featuring a beautiful garden with over 3,000 plant species.
Cape Kaliakra: A historic fortress with breathtaking views located on high cliffs, not far from Balchik.
Promenade: A lively waterfront area with restaurants, coffee shops, and activities like boat rentals and biking.
Beaches: A mix of smaller beaches within the town and more secluded coves in the surrounding area.
Museums and galleries: Balchik has an Ethnographic Museum and an Art Gallery, along with other historical sites like the Mutual School and Church of St. Nikolas.

WHAT TO DO

Enjoy seaside activities like swimming, boating, paddleboarding, and kayaking.
Walk along the promenade for dining and entertainment.
Explore the historical sites, including the palace, fortress, and museums.
Take a day trip to other nearby resorts and attractions like Albena or the Ak Yazala Baba Monastery.
If you would like to explore more of the Bulgarian coastline, you could go south and visit beautiful seaside towns such as Sozopol, Nesebar, Sinemoretz. Please do not hesitate to ask Maria for more suggestions 🙃
